H.E.A.R.T. Saga: The Children Page 5
“I’m not sure,” she said, “what all of this means. And that’s not even the worst part of all this. Tatiana also showed me that these trapped souls were blocking new souls from being born, and that’s why there haven’t been any babies born lately.” She stopped and waited for him to say something.
He was silent at first, turning his head to look out the window at the mountain and the lake. More than a little overwhelmed by everything that his wife had told him, he continued to look out the window, trying to sort out all the complicated thoughts and feelings that he had swirling around in his head. He just didn’t know what to say.
The longer he stayed quiet, the more nervous DraDonna felt. Tears filled her eyes. She had so many fears, but the strongest was the fear that someone might try to stop her; that she would be convicted of community upset— or even worse, science—and be sentenced to negative energy… Mostly, though, she feared that DraDevon would not go with her, would not love her anymore.
“Please say something, DraDevon,” she begged. “It would mean everything to me if you would help me with this. I know that this is something I have to do for the good of everyone in all of the communities. But mostly… for us… so we can have children.” Again she stopped, waiting for him to say something.
He turned his head back to look at her with a little sadness in his eyes. “What about the couples’ solace? I have to say, I’m disappointed you’re using that as a cover and not to draw us closer as a couple.” He stopped for a second as a new thought came to him. A look of deep concern crossed his face as he asked, “Could this all be just energy madness? I’m guessing that instead of taking energy since last night, you have been eating that plant. Couldn’t all this be just a part of the depression and madness?”
She stood up from her chair, walking over and kneeling down in front of him. She looked him in the eye. “Look at me closely,” she told him. “Tell me, do I look mad to you? A little more emotional than normal, sure, but do I really look mad to you? I know this all sounds very odd, but it’s true and I need you. I need you to help me do this. You would know better than anyone if I was energy mad.”
Again he was silent, but only for a moment. He looked in her eyes and said with a look of good humor in his own, “You must be energy mad if you think I wouldn’t follow you anywhere you would go for the rest of your days.”
DraDonna sobbed, leaning forward and hugging him around the waist. Then she put her head on his chest and said with her voice muffled by his shirt, “I thank the HEART everyday for you!”
“Well just so you know… Tatiana isn’t the only one who thinks you’re something special.”
“Oh!” DraDonna exclaimed as she got to her feet. “You just reminded me. Come with me, I need to show you something.” She grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet. “I can prove to you that this is all for real.”
“I believe you, DraDonna. You don’t need to prove anything to me.”
“I know, but just the same I need you to understand,” she said as she took him out the front door.
Even though it was evening time and the daylight was waning, they could still see the sky. She pointed to the misty cloud cover that completely covered the sky in all directions.
He shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t understand what you mean. It’s just the sky. The same cloud cover as always.”
“DraDevon, don’t you remember hearing from some of the older people? They told tales of patches of blue in the sky. But now no one does. It’s just clouds all the time all over the world. Look closer my friend, those are not clouds. They’re old souls that cannot move on. For some reason they’re trapped, and if we don’t find a way to set them free, there will be no more babies.”
DraDevon looked into the evening sky and gasped, “I swear by the HEART that one of the clouds has a face and it’s looking at me.” A little shaken by what he saw, he pulled her back into the house with him. “Those clouds are the old souls aren’t they?” He wrapped his arms around her and whispered in her ear “I’m so sorry I didn’t believe you. It all sounded just so…”
She hugged her precious husband and said softly, “It’s okay. I had a hard time believing it at first myself. I’m just so happy that I have you.”
He pulled back just a little and gently placed his hands on either side of her face. “You have me, DraDonna. Body and soul forever!”
He stroked her lips with his thumb and then kissed her passionately. She melted into him and matched his desire with her own lips, kissing him back just as hard while gripping the back of his shirt, pulling her passion heated body closer to his. DraDevon’s kisses had always made her heart race, but this time the heat of him made her feel like she was on fire and the very pulse of her soul depended on the movement of his lips.
The heat of their passion was so intense that DraDonna was sure they had melted in to one being. She knew when they expressed their love for each other in such a sensual way that their souls were intertwined for all eternity.
Later that night they were snuggled up in bed, their clothing scattered all over the room.
DraDevon stroked her hair affectionately, saying very tenderly, “You know we will be cleared to conceive a baby in the next two years. I hope that when we do have a baby that it’s a girl and that she will have your beautiful copper hair.”
“I hope so, too,” she replied, melancholy in her voice.
“Why do you sound so sad, my love?” he asked her with concern.
“I was just thinking about my sister. Almost two years ago JorMelony and JorRobert conceived a baby boy and he was stillborn. No one could figure out why. No matter how many prayers were said to the HEART, they just could not figure out why it happened. It was so painful to see this perfect little baby boy laying in my sister’s arms with no life in his little body. This pain just didn’t go away for me no matter how much energy I took in. But at least now I know why. It’s all the old souls. They’re trapped. They’re blocking the new souls.”
“Well, I’m not going to worry about it too much,” he told her. “If anyone can find out what’s wrong with the world and fix it, it’s you.”
DraDonna giggled a little at this. She relished how safe she felt in his arms and she snuggled closer to him. It didn’t take long before they both fell asleep.

For the second time, DraDonna’s body rested comfortably among the soft folds of the blankets and in the strong arms of the man she loved, but she felt her mind falling into that familiar dark abyss.
Just as it was in the first dream, DraDonna found herself standing on the same mountaintop surrounded by the cloud-like souls. But unlike before, Tatiana was standing in front of her in full transparent form.
“Tatiana!” DraDonna exclaimed with surprise.
“Hello child, our time is short.” The old soul greeted her.
“I’m a little surprised to be here again, but I’m happy to see you. I need your help, Tatiana. I just don’t know where I’m supposed to start.”
“Notice everything, Little Donna. It will give you clues, but mostly what you need to find is in the ground.”
Again hearing her old friend use her childhood name gave DraDonna comfort in this odd dreamscape. “I don’t understand what you mean by that, Tatiana. What is in the ground?”
“I can’t tell you that, I am bound by my oath to the HEART.”
“Well then why did you bring me here?” DraDonna asked in confusion.
“I have brought you here to warn you that there is not much time. You have to hurry, and there is someone among you that is not who they seem. This person is plotting something and will try to stop you to be sure that their plan is successful; by then it will be too late.” Tatiana hurriedly went on with her warning, her voice sounding weak. “Be careful in whom you confide, and do not wait for the gathering. If you do so, this person will stop you from leaving.”
“But who is it?” DraDonna called to Tatiana’s rapidly
fading figure.
“Free us…” was the only reply as the darkness once again gathered around DraDonna.
The dizzy sensation took over again, making her feel as though she was falling into nothing. DraDonna gasped and opened her eyes to find that she was still in bed with her husband close beside her.
She had the urge to get up to place her hands on the HEART stone altar, take in a large dose of the energy, and then go back to dreamless sleep. But instead of doing that, she got up and packed the small bag with the Traveler’s Joy and began to dress.
Even though DraDonna tried not to make too much noise, her sudden activity woke up DraDevon. In a half-sleepy but suggestive voice, DraDevon called to his wife, “Hey, beautiful lady. Come back to bed.”
“DraDevon, I saw Tatiana again.”
“What did she say?” he asked, suddenly very much awake.
“Well, she told me again that what I need to find is in the ground, and she begged me to free them again. But there is something else. She told me that someone we know is not who they seem to be and that they have a plan, and they will try to stop us from interfering in their plan.”
DraDevon sat up in bed, “Someone has a plan?” he asked astonished. “Did Tatiana tell you who it was?”
“No, she didn’t.” DraDonna answered him. “All she told me was that there isn’t much time.”
“Well, then who do you think it is?” DraDevon asked her with worry.
“I’m not sure.” she replied. “But I have a feeling that it is Ambassador Symon.”
“What makes you think it’s him?” DraDevon inquired.
“You need a better reason than because he is ill tempered towards you. DraDonna, he’s ill-tempered to everyone.” DraDevon said with a little disdain.
“There’s more to it, DraDevon. I haven’t yet told you what happened yesterday when I went back to talk to Ambassador Symon.” She took a deep breath to steady her voice.
“When I got to the office, I heard two people fighting. It was First Councilor Jude and Ambassador Symon. I didn’t mean to spy on them really, but I heard Councilor Jude say that he can’t kiss her like that again and just pretend like it didn’t mean anything. Councilor Jude went on to say that she knows the truth now and she has an idea for them to be together; he tells her no, that he can’t. He said he has a responsibility to all the HEART’s communities.
“I peeked through the window and saw Councilor Jude reach up and touch his face like I would touch yours. Ambassador Symon firmly pushed her hand away. He told her that she knows he can’t. She said she knows he has feelings for her, and that she knows a way for them to be together. He confessed his love for her, but said that it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t want to know what she is up to.
“He said that there were a lot of Ambassadors before him, and that he will not be the one to let it all fall apart, not even to be with her. He kind of turned cold on her and said that she needs to get back to her community because that they all need to prepare for tomorrow. He said he has to handle the Dra situation.”
She paused for a moment and then went on. “I don’t know what he has planned for us, but I just don’t have a good feeling about this gathering.”
DraDevon sat on the bed, stunned to hear of such a forbidden relationship. He turned and swung his legs over the bed, and said, “I think that we need to get moving. It sounds to me like Ambassador Tatiana gave you some good advice, but I just don’t see how anyone can know what we’re up to. We haven’t told anyone.”
“You have a good point,” DraDonna responded. “And you’re right. I don’t see how anyone would know or how they could find out what we’re doing. You and I are the only ones who really know what’s going on, but still… there was something in the tone of Ambassador Symon’s voice when he talked to us yesterday… the way he said he was going to take care of us. I felt, I don’t know, scared I guess.”
DraDevon cleared his throat before speaking, “For sure, we will not tell anyone what we’re really doing. That’s just the smart thing to do. The fewer who know what we’re doing the better. I agree with you; we should not go to the gathering. It could be dangerous if Ambassador Symon is planning something. We need to leave before anything does happen.
“But wait,” he said. “DraDonna, something else is bothering me.”
“What is it?” She asked him.
“Well you said you heard Councilor Jude say something about how she had a plan for the two of them to be together. Do you think that it could be Councilor Jude that’s a danger to us?”
“I don’t really think so,” she answered him. “She has always been nice to us, and Ambassador Symon just brushed her idea off.”
DraDevon had finished dressing now and walked out of the bedroom with DraDonna close at his heels. In a very casual way, DraDevon knelt in front of the HEART stone altar.
“What are you doing?” DraDonna asked him with a sense of alarm.
“I need it!” he stated in a demanding tone.
“No, my friend, you don’t. I haven’t had any energy for almost two days. That plant you saw me eat last night is called Traveler’s Joy, and it will help you. You will not need the energy when you eat it. I know this sounds strange, but when I take it my mind and body feel more aware than ever. It’s as if I have been asleep all my life, but now I’m awake.”
DraDevon was quiet for a moment to think about what she said.
DraDonna continued, “I understand if you need it, but take the Traveler’s Joy. Tatiana said that the plant would work even if we took the energy for travel and other things.” With this DraDonna reached into the small pack at her belt and pulled out two good sized sprigs and showed them to him.
Without another word he stood up, snatched one of the plants from her hand and ate it. “I know that you’re tough, but I’m not a wimp either. If you can do it so can I. We need to get packing fast, my wife.”
DraDonna laughed a little and pulled the notebook out of her other pack tied at her waist. Opening it, she had a list of things they would need, standard things. She read off the list as DraDevon hurriedly gathered the items, bringing them to the bedroom and spreading them out on the bed. DraDonna chose some of her small hand tools to put in her pack with her notebook and pencil.
“DraDevon,” she said, “do you think that we will need to pack food?”
“I’m sure that the cabins we go to will have MDC’s. So I don’t think that we’ll need any.”
“I hope so, because I don’t think that we’ll have room in the packs for food,” DraDonna told him as she looked over their packs.
“Hmmm,” DraDevon said. “I just had a thought. Does anyone know where the food comes from that we find in the MDC?”
“I don’t really know. I haven’t ever thought about it.” DraDonna said, and then recited the evening prayer, “And the HEART provides for them that they hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and she also gives them strength, that they suffer no manner of afflictions.” DraDonna continued thoughtfully, “I guess like everyone else, I’ve never questioned it.”
It was close to daybreak when they finally had their bags packed. They were ready to go, but they got a surprise knock at the door. Feeling a little apprehensive, DraDonna looked over at her husband. He whispered to her not to worry.
With a deep breath, DraDonna opened the door.
First Councilor Jude was smiling at her. “HEART’s greeting, DraDonna and DraDevon, it looks like you’re ready to leave. You aren’t going to miss the gathering are you?” she asked them. Before they could reply she went on.” It’s going to be an exceptional gathering with special music. I know that most everyone on the planet will be coming to see you off. I think that you two are going to restart this old tradition. I always knew that you were going to do something great, DraDonna, and now you have.”
DraDonna and DraDevon exchanged knowing looks.
“Of course we will be at the gathering First Councilor Jude,” DraDevon answered her. “May
I ask why you have come to visit us so early?”
“I have a gift for you both,” she said, handing them each a small cloth bag. Inside each bag was a matching necklace. The pendant was a small oval shaped piece of white HEART stone strung on a strong fabric cord. “Go ahead and put them on,” she instructed them. “Keep them next to your skin and the HEART stone pendant will help you bond with each other and with our MOTHER the HEART in a more… umm… meaningful way.” She finished with a little knowing smile.
“Thank you so much, First Councilor Jude,” DraDonna said as she and DraDevon put their necklaces on.
“As much as I would like to take credit for this gift, I can’t. These are from Ambassador Symon. He found a lot of these stones when he was a small boy, and then fashioned them into necklaces. He sends these with his apologies, and he told me to tell you that he is sorry for his behavior, that it was unbecoming of a servant of the HEART.”
A little taken aback by this, DraDevon managed to stammer out, “Umm, convey our thanks to, um, the Ambassador.”
“I will do that,” First Councilor Jude said brightly. “I will see you at the gathering. Be sure to be on time.” She turned and left through the open front door.
DraDevon turned to his wife and asked, “Do you think we should go to the gathering?”
DraDonna took a moment to think and remember what Ambassador Tatiana had said to her about someone not being who they seemed to be. DraDonna told him, “No. Remember Tatiana’s warning. We need to leave now.”
“Alright then.” They put on their knapsacks.
“Where do you think we should start?” she asked her husband.
“I think we should start at cabin number one in the mountain of the Ambassadors community.”
“Why should we start there, DraDevon?”
“Well my wife, we have to start somewhere.”
DraDonna had been feeling a little apprehensive about what they were getting into. DraDevon saw this and tenderly took her hand in his own.
They walked together, hands and souls entwined, to the HEART’s stone altar. DraDevon opened a little drawer under it, pulling out two smaller round HEART travel stones. He handed one to his wife and they each clutched the travel stone in their left hand while placing their right hand on the HEART stone altar.
